How Spikemail Defines Spam

Spikemail defines spam according to the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007: Spam is the generic term for the electronic commercial junk mail you receive without having requested it. This includes unwanted messages sent to peoples email accounts or mobile phones.

Spikemail only sends emails to lists that have been provided by clients. These are collected by competitions, online subscription forms or some other means whereby the person giving their email address knows they will be contacted via email. We do not buy, sell or rent email lists.

How We Prevent Spam

We ask our clients how they got their list and will only use their list if we are sure it has been collected legitimately. As a provider of email marketing services we are extra vigilant about preventing spam. If we are seen to be spamming, ISPs will block our messages and our service would be useless to our clients who depend on us.

So we do everything we can to keep our lists clean because our reputation and deliverability depends on it.

We are not anonymous. Spammers use fake email addresses to cover their tracks. If you were sent an email from Spikemail you can easily contact us.

Reporting Spam

Before you ring and abuse Spikemail staff please consider the following:

• We take spam reports seriously. If you've received spam that you think came from Spikemail, we want to hear about it.
• Our clients collect their own lists
• Could you have you signed up on a website or put your name in a draw that, in the terms and conditions, said you were going to be contacted by email.
• Spikemail will remove you from the list, do everything we can to find out how you got on the list and why you were sent an email you consider spam.
